Abstract
In elastic composite yarn, two deferent elements are combined to improve yarn properties such as elongation, recovery and comfort. One component is usually made up of staple fibers either natural or man made while the other is an elastomer. In this paper we considered a special kind of these yarns which is produced on a modified rotor spinning
system. To study the yarn properties, yarn samples with different values of twist factor (3.3, 3.6, 3.9 and 4.2) and also similar normal yarns all with the linear density of 20 tex were produced. The results showed that in composite yarns, breaking tenacity and elongation decreased with the increase of twist factor. The amount of elastic recovery ratio increased with increase of twist factor. These yarns have greater amount of breaking tenacity, elongation and elastic recovery ratio than normal rotor-spun yarns. Also yarn evenness and hairiness improved in compared with similar normal rotor-spun yarns. Keywords: elastic composite yarn- elastomer- rotor spinning system- twist factor
