Abstract
Wool cames in various natural colors of white, cream, yellow, brown or black. The natural color of animal fur is closely related to the character of the environment in which the animal lives. Wool bleaching can be oxidative and/or reductive-oxidative bleaching is invariably carried out. More recently significant progress has been made in the field of selective dark fiber bleaching and in the bleaching of heavily pigmented wools. In a previous research pigmented wool fibers were bleached in a four steps method by authors. Papain enzyme was used as a new agent. The bleaching yield was high and damage of fibers was low. In this paper some of the effective parameters in the four steps method, were explained. These parameters are: bleaching time, concentration of retardant agent and hydrogen peroxide. Then pigmentation of treated wool was determined by reflection percent, L* and yellowness index. According to the
results, The optimum conditions for bleaching were reached.
